Core values: Authenticity, relevance, flexibility, simplicity, focus on purpose
GracePoint has a vision to be a relevant group of dynamic disciples of Jesus Christ. Our facility exists only for the purpose of living out that vision. People are our focus, not buildings and budgets. Our dream is to experience true ministry, as Jesus taught in Matthew 25, with people who are hurting. In this way, the heartbeat of GracePoint Church is to live as the church, not just go to church.
Believing that genuine discipleship happens best in a smaller congregation, GracePoint will never be a "large church." When we sense the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we will start another church. This is one of our core goals and is stated in our Bylaws. We are on mission with God to build His Kingdom, not ours.
GracePoint Church is an autonomous, independent congregation. We are self governed, under the authority of the Scripture and leadership of the Holy Spirit. We embrace the Baptist Faith and Message of the Southern Baptist Convention as a guideline for our beliefs. GracePoint Church chooses to associate with the mission endeavors of the Cooperative Program through the Tulsa Metro Baptist Association, the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma and the Southern Baptist Convention. We also support other mission and ministry entities as the Holy Spirit leads.
Dr. T. David Willets
David Willets, pastor/teacher, has been in ministry for over 30 years in various church positions. His passion is to raise up disciples of Jesus Christ who live the Gospel in such a way that it impacts their personal cultures.
David is the senior pastor of GracePoint Church. Before starting GracePoint Church in January of 2007, he was a senior pastor in Louisiana for 3 1/2 years and at Parkview Baptist Church in Tulsa for 18 years. Dave grew up in Tulsa. Pastor Willets has a testimony of God's faithfulness in the midst of devastating tragedy. On March 4, 2004, his wife of 27 years, Leesa, and 18 year old daughter, Lauryn, were killed in a car accident. From that painful experience, David witnessed the Sovereign hand of Almighty God move in his life and ministry. Through God's sustaining grace and awesome direction of each step, David married a new love and partner in the ministry, Melanie, on July 29, 2006. They reside in the Mapleridge neighborhood (midtown) of Tulsa. Dr. Willets is an educated and experienced spiritual counselor. If you have need of this ministry, David is willing to meet at your convenience and help in any way he can.
